Rochdale?s bid to land the League Two title was bolstered over a positive weekend for the Spotland outfit.

Firstly, Keith Hill?s men picked up three points after a fine away performance at Shrewsbury thanks to Joe Thompson?s second half header. While the scoreline suggested a tight encounter against Paul Simpson?s team, in truth Dale were far and away the better side and could have scored three or four.

Joe Thompson scored the only goal of the game as Rochdale?s promotion charge continued apace with victory at Shrewsbury.

Thompson had only been on the field for two minutes when he met Tom Kennedy?s free kick with a thumping header to beat David Button in the Shrews goal.

The Dale Trust have announced that almost 100 supporters have completed forms for the walk to Accrington to raise money for the Bowlee project.

If all can reach the target set by the Trust of £75, the Bowlee coffers will be swelled by nearly £5000.
