on July 1, the Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF)
said on Tuesday.
Lemerre, who steered France to the European
Championship title in 2000 and Tunisia to African
Nations Cup victory in 2004, flew to Morocco on
Monday to discuss contract details with the FRMF.
At the end of the talks, it was agreed that all
the conditions are currently met for Lemerre to
take over as the new coach beginning July 1, 2008

The 29-year-old spent a two-year spell with Fulham
from 2001 before he joined Rennes.

after the RMMF drew up a shortlist of candidates.
The 49-year-old enjoyed a decent spell with the
North African nation from 2002-2005.
During this time Morocco reached the Africa Cup of
Nations final but since then the once-proud
footballing nation have failed to progress past
the first round of AFCON and have also failed to
qualify for the World Cup since 1998.

the Moroccan soccer league (GNF1) to distance its
immediate pursuers.
In Khemisset, FAR Rabat scored a late goal to win
1-2 against local team IZK to reign supreme with

The weekend did not smile to FAR pursuers, as OCK
Khouribga lost to Olympic Safi 2 - 1, while Raja

Tangier.

beat Belgium 4-1 in a friendly.
Soufiane Alloudi and Tarik Sektoui gave Morocco a

margin in the 85th after pouncing on a defensive

Monday secured a place in the Arab Champions
League semis after a scoreless draw before
Egypt's Talaie Al-Gueich.
The Reds did not take any offensive risks and got
back to build a very solid defense and launch
counter-attacks.
Thanks to this performance, Wydad Casablanca have
maintained the pole position with ten points
(three victories, a draw and a defeat), ahead of
